1262683 2012-03-02 21:58:00 No wind here overnight, and only 14mm of rain which has stopped now and it looks like its clearing up

20mm here with light winds, it's the early thick coating of snow on Starvell, Rintoul, Ben Nevis & the Mt Arther Range that worries me, perhaps an early winter:horrified:horrified

1262684 2012-03-02 21:59:00 Last night it was a wee bit windy. The tomato frame blew down, tomato plants lying across lawn now...oh well...they were coming to the end anyway. Nothing else of note, showers on and off here at work today. pctek (84)

That sounds like the continuation of the summer we've had this year... :D

1262686 2012-03-03 00:54:00 The sun has just come out in Invercargill. I think I will go for a walk before it disappears again.

Almost got my washing dry. Gentle breeze with occasional light scotch mist in Invercargill. Yes I have seen the sun today.

1262688 2012-03-03 06:29:00 Just got back into Wanganui, It got the smash, there are some huge trees down. Metla (12)
1262689 2012-03-03 08:08:00 We got the smash all right . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Didnt hear it, but i have one side fence down . . . . . . . missed the neighbours car . . . . . . . . . . . verandah bits flying about, and a hole developing in another fence . . . . . . . the wheelie bin did a run at the gate and took it out . . . lol missed my car tho . . and i think the power probs helped with the internet probs . . . . so rebooted everything and we back on track this arvo .

lots of trees down, roots and all, the bus shelter down the road, has tipped over . and a few street trees down .
Had the builder here this morn for a bathroom check and he said roofs off, fences down and masive amount of trees down at Kowhai park, :(
My cousin at waverly lost there haybarn . . . . . . to fire .
Lots of power outages . and just plain mess every where . . . . . . .

The biggest thing that i cant get over is the amount of huge trees wipe out, roots and all or just snapped off at ground level . . . . . . . .
a few sheds demolished from some huge trees in moston road . and a few shops losing roofs in town .

and the petrol station down the road didnt even open????

no traffic lights for ages this morning in town, and emergency vehicles every where .

But we made it to our friends birthday party . . . . . . explain to a 5 year old why people arnt coming? yeah right .

Patea and waverly got the smash too, and some parts of taranaki sound bad as well .

but we had power most of day, just flickering enough to switch things off .

still windy as heck . . . :(

1262690 2012-03-03 08:50:00 ^ It was very wise to have that dilapidated power mains entry bracket fixed then. :D
However, some might think you overdid the testing of its wind resistant abilities. ;)

My tomatoes haven't matured yet - they are still green the size of strawberries.

1262692 2012-03-03 17:43:00 They won't now. They need lots of sun and heat.
