1286423 2012-07-06 08:45:00 It takes 8 hours to complete, is this normal? dianne pierce (13385)
1286424 2012-07-06 08:55:00 I guess a lot depends on how many files, speed of cpu, what OS etc. Eight hours seems a bit excessive though.

1286425 2012-07-06 09:05:00 How long is a piece of string. mikebartnz (21)
1286426 2012-07-06 09:07:00 Is it running on a calculator and trying to scan the entire contents of the internet? 8 hours is an awfully long time. inphinity (7274)
1286427 2012-07-06 09:32:00 Operating Windows XP , scanned 111590863 files and still going, now 8 hours 20 minutes, Processor x86 Family 15 Model 47 Stepping 2 AuthenticAMD ~1790 Mhz dianne pierce (13385)
1286428 2012-07-06 09:39:00 I would say it is on track having done 111 million files. mikebartnz (21)
1286429 2012-07-06 10:23:00 Yeah that sounds about right. I personally got pretty fed up with the speed of MSE and how much it would absolutely bog down the PC while doing the scan. Went full-time as a NOD32 user myself a while back now (Maybe a year or two?) and haven't looked back.

It costs, but it's certainly a worthwhile investment! You change the oil and filter on your car regularly, I like to think of this as my little bit of maintenance I can do to keep my PC running well ;)

1286430 2012-07-06 10:34:00 MSSE doesn't bog down on my system, but then again, it is relatively up there, esp in the "Home PC" department.

A full scan is rather redundant though unless you really think you need it. The active protection monitors any new files, any untrusted files that open and files in directories that are opened.

I have run it overnight before, a shed tonne of files, not sure on final time length though

1286432 2012-07-06 12:49:00 I would say it is on track having done 111 million files.

x2

I have barely 1 million on this machine across over 2.5TB

How the heck did you manage to get 100+ million files??
