| 28773 | 2001-12-27 13:25:00 | Long story short!... I have been inundated lately with unsolicited emails from porno sites. I made the mistake of trying to unsubscribe and ofcourse the problem got worse. I went to visit some of these sites (and they are extremely porno) and had a succession of auto pop-up windows just going crazy.Closing them down was a nightmare and ended with a Fatal error....... Since then my homepage was reset to one of these porno sites. Very distressing. Tried to change it back to my normal home page from within Internet Explorer but got message 'operation cancelled due to restriction in effect on this computer. contact your system admin.' This is a stand alone home PC 800 Mhz, running win98 SE with Microsoft Family logon, 2 users set up. By going through Control Panel / Internet options could then change home page setting back to my normal page. BUT when I reboot it defaults back to the porno address! This address is not saved under favourites or Links or anywhere by me! History and temp files are deleted at the end of each session. No cookies are stored. This only happens under my user ID. the other IE home page setting for the second user ID remains unchanged. What is happening?! How do I get rid of this disturbing event? Grant |

But if you dont have much customized settings then just go ahead and create a new profile for yourself to save all the fiddling. And unless its very simple to get rid of it, i would suggest a new profile. |

| 28775 | 2001-12-27 15:46:00 | ... i can emphasis with you. In fact it might even be worse than you think (!) A friend of mine told me how he once helped his local Vicar with a similar problem - and every eMail message that went out from the Vicarage had the Porno Site's URL appendaged. Not a good look. In all probablity, the Porno Site in your case has made an alteration to your Registry which the usual Browser' tweaks will not correct. I would suggest you 'copy & paste' the following into your Address Bar, press 'Go' and check out the solution offered there. Ensure you read the links to the 'newletters' and understand what has happened. Should it be any consolation - many of us get caught in predicaments such as this. Best wishes!!! e_ www.langa.com |

Or a lot of times they appear because you visited the warez (computer hacking) site. If you haven't done any of these things, you may need to check what your kids are doing on the computer. Otherwise, you're in big problem, you could be in the process or been hacked, which is of course, very serious, so it may be time to buy some more software to protect you from events like that. Hope you find a solutio, |
