28613 2001-12-26 07:36:00 Okay, I want to be able to copy a whole hard disk to another one, but it is having some 'issues'.
Explorer stops when it hits trouble. I used to use a program called Fastlynx that had good options like 'copy only newer files' so you didn't have to start over when you hit a snag.
I don't want to have to go through and figure which files need copying.
Any ideas, my friends?

28614 2001-12-26 07:54:00 I use 'Ghost PE' when I want to copy a whole disk over, it copys everything.

But it's not free.

28615 2001-12-26 08:39:00 I have ghost, but want file by file, not whole disk image (remember the orginating disk is partially buggered).
Want to keep all my mp3 files and digicam pics that I can.

28616 2001-12-26 08:40:00 I just use XCOPY, if it gives you sharing problems run it from DOS Mode (preferably with SMARTDRV loaded).

XCOPY /E/H/T/C/U C:\ D:\

Should work.

28617 2001-12-26 09:09:00 Hello Robo,

Have a look at the attached link, (winxcopy) like xcopy but with a windows interface and some nifty extras, very nice and easy to use.

Have fun.

I'll search for it anyway.

28619 2001-12-27 01:28:00 I saw this morning a 5.25' FastLynx distribution disk in one of my trays of disks.

Might have to be trimmed with the scissors to fit in your 3.5' drive.

28620 2001-12-27 19:51:00 I have fastlynx 2, no worries there.

I have used it in local mode numerous times.

Problem is that it can't handle long file names.

That other program didn't really work. Any other suggestions out there?
