| 28748 | 2001-12-27 08:39:00 | Hi, I am running a Pent 300 with 256meg ram WIN 98SE MSDUN1.4 a V90/K56flex Autodetect ( Rockwell chipset ) external modem. After several hours of being connected to the Internet the modem disconnects but the software and Modem ICON tells me its still connected. I try to disconnect via the Modem Icon but it will not let me. I have to shut all programs down and then try a Restart sometimes this works ok and other times it locks the PC up. I was running a speedcom+ modem similar to the above plus MSDUN 1.3 up graded to 1.4 to see if this would fix the problem. The other modem I an using now is brand new I loaded the new drivers etc but the problem is still there. Is this a 98SE problem ? I have all the updates as I use critical updates from Microsoft .. Can anyone please help Phillip |

It appears to be as if WIN98SE or MSDUN is not seeing the modem disconnect, but the starnge thing is that the modem ICON shows data still being passed once the modem has dropped the carrier The DTR,HS,MR LEDs stay on when this happens. |
