2001-12-27 00:10:00 | Hi, I am trying to install a fax program. It keeps asking me to specify a 'post office'. What is the post office? What does it do? How do I find it? Sorry if i am being dim. | Guest (0) | |
2001-12-27 00:42:00 | I'm sorry to ask, but can you read, read the text at the top of the page of PressF1. It says: Leave a message about your hardware, software or internet problem, and our server will automatically email you when one of our advisors, or another reader, answers your query. New messages and responses refresh and are visible on the home page within 15 minutes of posting. To be in to win rewards (such as free T-shirts and software), or to be auto-notified about a response to your posting make sure you check 'Yes' on the email notification line when you make or respond to a query. If this is your first time, click Make a New Post to begin. So I suppose you know what that means by 'new posts will be up within 15 minutes when the server updates, which mean, you don't go putting multiple posts up just to grab attention or the poort excuse, 'oh, I'm new, I didn't no'. People who also put their posts up want some replys but at least they don't go putting multiple posts up, which at the end just stops the pervious posts from been seen. You're just making it look bad for your self, I don't believe a lot of people will reply or help you, let alone myself. I've had experience with this problem, but i'm defitnitly not going to tell you, because you just blocked my post from been seen. Now, if you think I'm 'bossing' you around, then leave, because I'm sure no one here at PressF1 would like to help you out if you carry on, especially the experts like K O, Susan B, tweak 'e or Mike L for example. Poor excuses are just not acceptable.

2001-12-27 00:56:00 | Hi Shelley - I have looked around for help for you, it would help if you let us know what type of Fax program you are using. It may be that is uses a system of recalling saved faxes from a certain location, which you dial and then collect any faxes sent to this number. Just a stab in the dark, try entering your ph number in there, you'll soon see if it is needed. Good luck in finding a solution. As for the tosser who replied to you earlier - ignore wallies like that, he is clever with copy and paste but does not have enough brain cells to actually try to help people. J

2001-12-27 01:31:00 | Which is more annoying? 3 posts with the one question (strange things happen to us all) or idiots hiding behind anonymity who rant and rave with incorrect spelling and worse grammar? Shelley, I'd be delighted to help you with your post if I knew the answer. Unfortunately I don't.

2001-12-27 01:43:00 | TO: 27/12/01 12:42:22 I'm sure Shelley can read, she may just have not read it thoroughly. BIG DEAL!!! END OF WORLD!!! LIFE AS WE KNOW IT IS OVER!!! Unlike your ignorant dimwitted response littered with spelling mistakes. i.e: (poort, I didn't no, replys, pervious, your self, i'm defitnitly,) You are either a young schoolboy who just goes to 'eat his lunch' and has obviously never been taught any manners in his short miserable existence or you are just an ignorant a**hole, I think the latter would apply. This forum doesn't need losers (who post anonomously)like you, so go find a dark place and shove your head up it!!! Have a nice day slapper!

If you tell us the fax program and the operating system you are using, someone will probably know the answer. And as for that nameless person, you don't have to be at the top of the list to have your post read. I read every single posting on this site, and I always try to answer older postings that have had no replys, even if I don't know the technically correct answer, just to help them the best that I can, (just as jester has)as I know how frustrating it is, to have no response. |

2001-12-27 03:17:00 | shelly,if you are still reading thi thread(and I hope you are) I send my sympathy to you....This sort of obnoxious behaviour does not happen very often at this site. Please come back to us with some details as to your program name, and the operating system you use(i.e windows 98,windowsME etc)and there are plenty of civilised and knowledgeable people here who would be more than happy to try and be helpful. As for the idiot who added the smartarse reply, you are not as anonymous as you think. As soon as a moderator reads this thread your IP will be traced and blocked.I'd much rather talk to new visitors than to brain dead weenies who spend their lives with their modems turned on and their brains in neutral. If you ever need help with a problem, tough luck.

2001-12-27 04:06:00 | Thanks to all those kind enough to respond without the lame brain sarcasm.(I'm sure that person doesn't work for PCworld or I shall not be buying anymore of their magazines) I am running win98 and the fax program is called bitware fax, it came with my pci modem card. Does windows messaging mention a post office? | Guest (0) | |
2001-12-27 05:02:00 | Hello Shelley, It's a while since I've had anything to do with bitware, however from memory the post office facility is meant for running a number of workstations from the one PC, in your case you are only running the one, so the Postoffice number required is your Home phone number, also make sure you put the area code in. Hope this helps, Alan
