29028 2001-12-29 05:33:00 purchased a new computer with xp os is there anyway to use my old software from old computer which used windows 95 os ie. ms works 95, ms publisher 95, autocad 2000 or am I resigned to updating my software also? Guest (0)
29029 2001-12-29 07:33:00 XP has a compatibility option. You could try that on the programs but I'm unsure if you can get them installed. Maybe try & find out. Guest (0)
29030 2001-12-29 07:42:00 The majority of Windows appliactions are capable of running under Windows XP allthough they may need to be run by a user that is defined as an administrator, and you may need to right click on its Icon and if you see a compatibility tab select an appropriate compatibility mode. 16 bit applications are however not supported to the best of my knowledge. 29031 2001-12-30 19:13:00 As far as AutoCAD 2000 is concerned, I think you need to have Administrative rights or at least as a Power user before you can run AutoCAD 2000.

I had the similar problem in running AutoCAD 2000 with Win2K when I logged in as an ordinary User. However, I got no problem in running it with Power User rights.
