| 28886 | 2001-12-28 08:27:00 | Hi. Am running WinMe and was nosing around today with Tree Size having a cleanup, and noticed 788mb in a temp file in C:/Restore. I presume this is where WinMe gets its info for doing a restore, but is there any reason why I cant delete that much and do a fresh restore point? Thanx. |

It makes sense to delete it if you had tonnes of apps /programes and games when you set the restore point initally, to start again without the 'crap' to have a more reliable backup. keep in mind windows also sets restore points after the inital restore point so the folder increases over time. By default, when Windows installs System Restore on your computer, it allocates about 12 percent of your disk space for storage.when it runs out of diskspace it automatically becomes inactive. hope this helps a bit |

If interested, right click My Computer>Properties>Performance>File System>Trouble Shooting>Place a tick in the Disable System Restore and reboot. | Guest (0) | ||

A good tip to remember for the future. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get rid of the 8Gb of games. Cheers. |
