28843 2001-12-28 05:45:00 what plug in is it asking to install? and is it doing it repeatedly even thou you have said yes?

activeX is very insecure so its a VERY BAD THING to have it not ask.

check the sircuity settings under internet optoins. make sure you set it to prompt you when it downloads activeX. i would also change the intranat security settings up to medium.

sorry don't know who 'tom' is this is an open forum. you can't receive letters here.

28845 2001-12-28 07:23:00 Sorry to annoy you but I get P***d off when people blame the O/S for their problems. I was not suggesting you were stupid merely that like me you would learn a lot by sorting out your problems rather than giving up. I am nearly 70 and had never touched a computer until 2 years ago - I have been on a sharp learning curve ever since and enjoying every minute of it. Please accept my appologies if I have offended you.
I have found that IE6 is not the best with ME. and have gone back to 5.5 Sp2. No more troubles.

28846 2001-12-28 08:30:00 Gee Tom, you're amazing! I don't know any other 'fossils' (no offence!) into PCs like you are - I wish my Dad was like you! Good on ya. Guest (0)
28847 2001-12-28 09:14:00 Good on you Tom. I'm even older than you and with about the same experience.I've found that the easiest way to fix problems is to work it out for yourself. I used to ask a lot of questions, but found the answers usualy confused me even more.
My pet aversion is the way the same question keeps getting asked over and over again. People should do a bit of searching themselves.

28848 2001-12-28 09:34:00 I must be the 'baby' of this trio as I am only 54. I have been into computing for just over a year. I have found that,in researching a problem, one tends to learn much faster & better, than being fed the answer. Even after saying that though, there are times when the problem is to technical or the cure is to obscure, for the ordinary 'Joe' to handle.

I have a couple myself, ones which I have had no luck in finding an answer. I will be posting them here & on other sites in the hope they will be solved.
