29231 2001-12-30 21:59:00 Help. got the kids (& me)a HP24i. installed myself. burns cd to cd in 5 mins using the HP software (record now). But this software wont use my WMA files. tried to convert, no success. Got the plugin for MP, gets to the last step, error message reads - no recording CD device found. It is there in the control panel.
Please help, household getting real shitty with me!

29232 2001-12-31 00:40:00 hi there,

I hope you don't have too many WMA files. The format is proprietry to MS and may contain copy protection. The closest file format to CD audio on the PC is WAV. All CD burning software will accept WAV files to make audio CDs from. I would suggest you use MP3 format for compressed audio and WAV files when constructing an audio CD. 'CDex' is excellent for ripping audio from CDs.
'RazorLAME' can compress ripped WAV files into MP3. 'Winamp' can decompress MP3 files into WAV format.

Perhaps someone else can help you with the Media Player problem you are currently having however.

BTW all the products mentioned are free downloads and can be located with a search engine like Google.

Good luck!

29233 2001-12-31 02:30:00 I am not sure if it will help, as I am a newbie here, but I use MUSIC MATCH JUKEBOX which is a free download. It seems to work OK with burning everything I want.... My kids hassel me all the time when my PC won't do everything as quickly as a Playstation, but I never hear them when I stick cheese in my ears LOL

Good luck.... AL

29235 2002-01-01 00:52:00 Yeah I think anon is probably right, the WMA format was designed to stop the sharing of music files, so use Win media player to play, not for ripping.

The free trial version of 'Blaze' should be able to convett your current WMA files to Wav/mp3, which can then be copied across as you've being doing:

In future use a program such as cdex (great free program) to rip mp3s from your original CD and you won't have these problems:
