29222 2001-12-30 21:28:00 After start-up of Outlook the computer is locked for more than 1 minute (unable to switch to another task).
I'm runnig a 1.2 Mhz AMD Athlon with 256 G storage.
The harddisk led shows little activity during this time-out period.
Any idea on how to solve or further diagnostic the problem?

29223 2001-12-30 22:39:00 Is it while your modem is dialing up and connecting to your ISP. Guest (0)
29224 2001-12-30 23:24:00 No, because I'm using a broadband , so the connection to the ISP is always open.
It happens after starting Outlook and after a certain period of inactivity with an active outlook, then the moment I click on a unread message everything hangs for certain time.

29225 2001-12-31 07:57:00 I found outlook 6 did the same to me, untill i reduced the amount of messages in the inbox, once i had reduced my inbox size by saving all the attachments i wanted, and then deleting the messages, outlook was fine. I am running an old pentium 450 with 256 meg of ram, and a cable modem Guest (0)
29226 2001-12-31 12:50:00 Thanks Chris,
It seems your answer did solve the problem , I had about 1000 mails in the inbox.
After an export for archiving purpose the inbox is reduced to only a few mails.

I wish you all a happy New-Year.
