29175 2001-12-30 08:54:00 I have currently a 3dfx Voodoo3 graphics card and am looking to upgrade the card and my normal RAM (to 256M). Is it worth the costs to upgrade and if so what card should i be looking at and for how much. Guest (0)
29176 2001-12-30 09:30:00 it depends on what you use it for. the v3 is not a bad card(glide looks so nice). i would go minimum geforce2 gts. is the v3 onboard??

ram wise check your manual on what it can handle. also check out the large amount of ram posts on this forum. they should any almost any ram question. if it can take it i would go minimum 256Meg ram.

29177 2001-12-30 10:08:00 I run a Pentium 3 450 with 256MB of RAM and a 16MB 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 graphics card. Initially i had 128MB of RAM and wasn't overly impressed in running FS2000 as it slowed down due to running on virtual memory. That improved significantly once I doubled the RAM. Its really a matter of what do you want to run on your PC and how does that relate to your graphics card. Guest (0)
29178 2001-12-30 13:09:00 Yeh i would go ram b4 the graphics card. your talking $50 for 128megs (dick smith electronics)

as for the graphics card. Yes Geforce Gts's are very nice but we are not all dream machine tweak masters like tweak (u got one sweet system dude) but cost wise Id suggest either a geforce 2 mx 400 (64 meg if u can but 32 will handle) or a Matrox g450 series.

Avoid TV out cards if u can unless u want the extra feature, and any xtra features as far as that matters as they just rack up the price

happy new year

29179 2001-12-30 15:02:00 when u are upgrading a graphic card i reckon it pays to make a big as jump up as u can possibly afford, as for which one i recently went from 32mb geforce 2mx to a Leadtek 64mb geforce 2 Ti(with tv out) and im really happy it.its also good for overclocking.
with ram check what u can support, my motherboard supports 512M but im quite happy with 256, it is a cheap option and does sound impressive when u state proudly i have 1G ram:-)
