| 29109 | 2001-12-30 02:45:00 | i am using windows xp pro, and i switched to using the new logon screen after weeks of using the old windows 2000 style logon box. When turned the box on this morning, the only account displayed was the administrator one. I don't use this account normally and i set the password up for it when i installed xp a long time ago and have since long forgotten the password. Is there any way past this, i have found a prog on the net but it is only a demo and will not reset the admin password until i pay US$200. Is there a freeware prog or some way to reset the password to a default that i can use?? cheers craig. |

| 29110 | 2001-12-30 04:02:00 | When you say 'the only account displayed was the administrator one' do you mean the login box contains the word 'Administrator'? If so, can't you overtype 'Administrator' with your usual login name then use your normal password? Alternatively, did you use something simple like Admin or admin as your password? |

I am using the new 'friendly' login style of xp, the one where you click the picture and type the password. the only account available is the administrator, and i tried all my usual passwords and various combo's plus admin and some others to no avail. | Guest (0) | ||
