I am not sure, but I wish I could make mine go away. I have a thoroughly half-dead hard disk and every time I boot it wants to do it and it drives me nuts. I am restarting heaps as I try get the remnants of data off it.

Any clue either way would be of interest to me.

29393 2002-01-01 05:46:00 I just cut and pasted a suggestion to help the both of you... at the end is the original URL for further scrutiny (and I don't want to take the credit).. Tom once you get to end try to see if there is an enable scandisk..

The following will help you disable scandisk auto start.

Goto the START Button
Select Programs
select Accessories
select System Tools
select System Info

After the program starts Select Tools (on the top bar of the Window)
select System Configuration Utility

You should be at the General tab at this point
click on the Advanced button
then select Disable Scandisk After Bad Shutdown

Note for Robo: I decided to go to movie quotes just in case people got the wrong end of the stick in future..

Hope this helps
