29476 2002-01-01 12:42:00 My son and I are trying to hook up using Microsoft Netmeeting but we can't. In fact we can't even get into Microsoft Internet Directory.
Anybody got any suggestions about what might be wrong.
Cheers

29477 2002-01-01 13:10:00 Hi Mike

I connect to others using NetMeeting through msn's Instant Messenger. You right click your contact and would invite them to start a NetMeeting conversation. Messenger can be downloaded from
http://messenger.xtramsn.co.nz/

I do find however that ZoneAlarm hinders connections when doing it this way, so if you or your son are using ZoneAlarm, disable it first.

Another way of connecting is to establish yours and your son's IP addresses and connect directly to those. You can find out your ip address by clicking start / run then typing
winipcfg then pressing enter.

If this fails - take a look at the Microsoft NetMeeting site
www.microsoft.com

Good Luck!

29478 2002-01-01 22:39:00 Mike, how are you getting on after Jester's help?
Here is an IIS server list for you.

www.netmeeting-zone.com

On page two you'll find the New Zealand server listed or just paste this in directly (Netmeeting + Tools + Options + General Tab .. beside where it says 'directory')
as follows:

ils.glazier.co.nz

This server is usually quick to access so depending on what you want to do, you and your son could 'meet' on this server to start a connection.

You can copy and paste any iis server you wish to add to your own list.

ALSO... if you are still having trouble and are doing everything correctly, then the most likely cause is your firewall.

Good luck. Get back if you have any further questions. Dave

PS. friendly warning... It can resemble the Wild West on these servers so don't put in your real details (Tools + Options) and don't have Netmeeting set to Automatically accept video.
