29464 2002-01-01 11:09:00 On receiving some emails I am unable to open those that come through Word-Pad.On opening word-pad I only receive what appears to be alot of unrecognisable info. Guest (0)

What is the file extension for the document e.g. doc,txt,etc...

29467 2002-01-02 02:00:00 Hi Ian, you don't say what system you are using, I had same problem when running Win 95, now running Win XP with no problems. As stated previously you will have to update, I tried various ways, ending up by getting the sender if possible to send in plain text. Frank. Guest (0)

Have you scrolled right down the page? If a Word document is opened in Wordpad there is usually a screed of boxes and other rubbish, sometimes several pages of it before some plain text appears. The more recent the version of Word, the more of it there is. I think it is formatting data.

It probably wouldn't be a bad thing to ask your corrspondent to send their attachments as text files.

Either that or buy a cheap secondhand WP program like Works 3 or Word 95 and have the files sent as RTF format. That will retain the original document formatting.

29469 2002-01-13 10:05:00 Have tried scrolling down the full pages on wordpad.sometimes I am able to view the message but not always.
Iam using windows 95.
