| 29424 | 2002-01-01 06:23:00 | I've just received 2 emails. The first tells me that the file 'sulfnbk.exe'in the Windows Command folder is a virus that is going to delete all my files and pass itself on to all in my address book. The second email says this is a hoax and this file is essential to running Windows. Can anybody verify this one way or the other please. |

| 29426 | 2002-01-01 06:48:00 | Hi Ray, this information is courtesy microsoft kb article Q301316. 'Sulfnbk.exe is a Windows utility that is used to restore long file names. This utility is not required to run Windows, but it is necessary if you need to restore long files names if they become damaged or corrupted.' Relax PC |

| 29428 | 2002-01-01 08:13:00 | A common email hoax this one. If the message says to delete the file, ignore it, it is a hoax, if the email contains a attachment named sulfnbuk.exe, delete the message and attachment. | Guest (0) | ||

If someone came up to you in the street and gave you a piece of paper telling you to delete a file from your computer - would you? If you EVER get an email telling you to delete something - treat it like a message from the man in the street (don't be fooled that it came from via a friend) and research it first. The best resourch for hoaxes, jokes, viruses etc is the Symantec (Norton antivirus) site. Hoaxes are listed here: www.symantec.com Other references are available from the bottom of this page: www.symantec.com |
