29587 2002-01-02 22:21:00 Help, my computer can't detect my new ram any more. It only detected my old install ram (PC100 64MB SDRAM). You see... my mother board has 2 slot for rams. The 1st slot has my old ram(64MB PC100) and the 2nd slot has the new one(128MB PC133) both of them are SDRAM, so that makes it 194MB of ram. The 1st time when I installed the 128MB of ram, the computer show smiley faces all over the screen on the 1st boot up, then these kinda stuff %#%^*&%%* on the 2nd boot up, on the 3rd it was fine then ever boot up was ok. Lately my computer being stuffing up(don't know why) so I decided that it could be the figure of 194MB of ram. So what I did was, I took out my old 64MB ram and replace it with the new 128MB of ram and just left the 64MB ram(un-installed). When I boot up the computer with just 128MB of ram, the 1st boot had *%&$^$&$ all over the screen, the 2nd had the same the 3rd was fine nothing wrong, so I left it on without testing it again. The computer ran smooth and had no problems, I then restart the computer again cause that I installed a new program. The 4th boot up was good, nothing wrong. Then I went to sleep, the next morning when I boot up the computer, it locks up. I tried booting it up again and again but it just doesn't seem to work. So I took out the 128MB and replace it with the old 64MB(and left the 128MB un-installed). It lock up on the 1st boot and the 2nd but on the 3rd it was fine. So now I decide to put back the 128MB ram back where it use to be(2nd slot) and the 64MB ram(1st slot). When I boot up my computer now (serval times) my computer can't detect the 128MB ram it only detected the 64MB ram. Everything is back to place, the ram is lock in place and the computer just can't seem to detect the 128MB ram.

Can any one help me out here?

Thanks alot

29588 2002-01-02 22:54:00 Looks like your 128Meg stick is just not compatable with your mother board - I've been down the same road. Guest (0)
29589 2002-01-02 23:12:00 But it work the first time I install it. Guest (0)
29590 2002-01-02 23:16:00 Then is there any way to find out what type or kind of ram my motherboard it compatble of or is this 128MB stick just faulty. Guest (0)

29592 2002-01-03 06:01:00 The URL www.pitstop.com/ actually belongs to a racing car fanatic site! I don't think this will help your RAM problem much - might distract you from it though :-) Guest (0)
