29886 2002-01-05 08:10:00 I would like to know if anyone can recommend software that I can install (preferably freeware) that will allow me to use the internet and telephone at the same time. I am a student and do not wish to have to buy a second line, even though it is slightly cheaper in Wellington than elsewhere (Telecom - but still $10 dearer than Saturn which I cannot get). Thanks for your help. Guest (0)
29887 2002-01-05 08:47:00 Sorry , but I don't think there is anything available. If someone could come up with something like that, they would become wealthy overnight.

You are stuck with either a second line or Jet Stream. Sorry

29889 2002-01-05 09:43:00 I have that problem too. I dont want to pay for a second line to have telephone and internet at the same time. If your on a dial up modem, you'll have to wait for the new V92 modems. At the moment u can only get V90s. No idea when the V92s are due for release. No doubt you'll hear about it when it does happen though.
Cheers.

29890 2002-01-05 09:59:00 I should actually mention that my ISP is Paradise, even though Poriura does not get Telstra-Satrun. I would rather stay with them than switch to Telecom/Xtra if I can. Guest (0)

29892 2002-01-09 09:01:00 Well I have good news and bad news for you Zac.
Whilst at the Big Boys Toys expo in Auckland last November, we came across a crowd that have just started importing this gadget ( like an answerphone)that allows you to answer calls while connected to the internet. You can only talk for a few seconds (long enough to say Hi I'll ring you back) but at least you don't miss calls.
Only trouble is I can't remember who they are or the name of the gadget...sorry :(
It was priced at around $150 and they said they would be advertising them early this year, so no doubt if you keep your eyes peeled you'll be hearing about it.
