| 29860 | 2002-01-05 04:39:00 | in response to the ata questions down the page i did a very quick test to see if pairing a cdrom and a harddrive on te same ide channel would slow down the harddrive. setup- one baracudda2 ata66 hdtach adv of 25MB/s sustained read speed, hp cd burner ata33 and poineer dvd ata66.(auto insert is off) a 568 meg folder was coppied from the hardrive to my main drive (raid array). times- hd on its own 54 sec hd + cd 57sec hd + dvd 55 sec. bugger all difference between them. however if the cdroms where in use i would say that the times would be different but i can't test that just at the mo. |

| 29862 | 2002-01-05 06:07:00 | thx allan that site had a good bit of info. the reason why the times were not much diifferent is proberly due to the hardrive being slower than 33MB/s. its basicly running the same speed at ata33 as it was at ata66. unfortunatly i don't have a faster spare drive and my mates newish one tested slower than 33MB/s. if anyone has some spare time to run some testing..............;-) | Guest (0) | ||
