| 30319 | 2002-01-08 09:43:00 | I have a Lite-On LTR-0841 writer and have just done a clean install of Win98SE on my AMD K6/2 450 with 396MB Ram and 32MB Nvidea graphics card. I find I can only read certain CD's and there doesn't seem to be a pattern, ie. I can read some CDR/RW's but can't read the Dec/Jan PC World disk. Can install EA's Croc 2 for the kids but won't get past the intro's without hanging the system. There are many other examples. Had to uncheck DMA in Device manager for CD Rom to be able to read CD's at all. Help appreciated. Going grey RAPIDLY! | Guest (0) | ||

| 30322 | 2002-01-09 10:40:00 | Thanks for your advice. I downloaded and installed latest video drivers(thought they were fairly new anyway but apparently not). This fixed the game problem. I also installed latest IDE drivers and utility which has fixed the blue screen on boot and also sped up the boot. Unable to download the BIOS update, web site won't seem to release it. Life seems so much brighter now. Many thanks. | Guest (0) | ||
