| 30264 | 2002-01-08 07:56:00 | We have 7pcs connected via a 10baseT hub and network interface cards to a server with fast ethernet card [100mbps] o a peer to peer network will replacing the hub only with a dual-speed 10/100 Ethernet switch improve network performance at all or will I have to replace the 7 NIC's as well? |

| 30267 | 2002-01-08 09:48:00 | I started with a hub at home and changed to a switch after a year and noticed a large speed boost from using it as well as the whole network appearing to be much more stable. I would expect you would notice quite a difference as well. | Guest (0) | ||
| 30268 | 2002-01-09 03:08:00 | A Switch is always better than the same speed hub, however all network transmissions only operate at the speed of the slowest component, so if all NIC's are only 10MBit/s, then that will be the network speed. Upgrading to 10/100 NIC's will give a huge speed boost to the network. |
