30259 2002-01-08 07:17:00 Hi, does anyone know of any program I can download to run PlayStaion2 games on my computer (windows 98 second edition) or will it work stright away when I put it into the cd-rom drive -as if I was on a playstaion.

Many thanks,

30260 2002-01-08 07:57:00 I don't have any link for what you need to download but you should do a search on PS2 Emulators.

I use to run a PSOne Emulator and it didn't like my system that much so I discontinued using it.

30261 2002-01-08 08:45:00 The PSX emulator I tried required major grunt and my p200 at the time was not up to it.

The PS2 emulator hits I found on Google looked a mixture of misleading and dodgy.

This one might be worth looking at http://win32yabasic.sourceforge.net/

But I think the PCs aren't fast enough to emulate PS2's yet.

Just buy one, they're way cheaper than a PC.

robo.

30262 2002-01-08 09:30:00 I doubt there's a working PS2 emulator out there yet...it's just too new. There's a few PSx emulators though and as the other posters comment, they all require a fair amount of grunt.

Virtual Playstation from Connectix springs to mind and the ubiquitous BLEEM.

Be warned though. All emulators make calls to the seriously deep code running on your operating system, somewhere between juju and prestidigitation. In other words, they can lock up a machine quicker than you can say 'overclock'.

If you do find one, feel free to revisit and post the details. Could be interesting :-D

30263 2002-01-08 10:49:00 I doubt there will be one for the PS2, sony did quite a good job of killing all the PSX ones.

Also it would take a very fast cpu to emulate the game at a playable speed.
