30588 2002-01-10 05:11:00 I'm fairly new to the Internet and as yet don't know how many hours per month I'm likely to use. I signed with Xtra to start with after recommendations from friends, but was wondering about Paradise? I haven't had much trouble with connecting to Xtra, etc., but think $28 is a bit much when I'm likely to only use around 30-50 hours per month. Paradise has a $20 for 250 hours plan but I don't know much about their service. I had a look at their website (hard to read as it has a black background) but would really like to hear from a few people who are with ISPs other than Xtra. I live in a small town in the Horowhenua so that narrows the choice down a bit. I don't need anything like Jetstream, just something that gives me plenty of hours for as little dosh as poss! 30589 2002-01-10 05:29:00 Hi Faye.
I dont have any problem with ISP's. I have 2 free ones that I joined before they pulled the plug on them. Both work very well. I believe from earlier postings, that you can buy one from www.trademe.co.nz. I think I remembered that right.

One of my neighbours came down last night for some advice on what to do. She joined xtra a year ago for the kids to use and was paying $25 a month. However, the computer was never used but she still had to keep paying. I went to www.consumer.org.nz and sorted her out a new ISP. Click the link top right and follow the instructions. Quite a neat service. List from cheapest, in your area, depending on your usage. You will find some ISPs you didnt know existed. I put my neighbour on Paradise Light Plan. $10 a month for 20 hours. Beats her continuous $25.

I hope that helps.

Cheers.

30590 2002-01-10 06:26:00 I would try and stay away from Actrix, I find Zfree way better! I've heard that Paradise is good, WorldNet and iNet (now Snap) are also good.
Going with a smaller ISP is sometimes quite a good idea as there is less chance of them over subscribing.

30591 2002-01-10 07:11:00 Hello Faye,

I have changed from Ihug to Paradise recently & find it a far better service.
Better connections & download speeds than Ihug.
$20 for 250 hrs is very good as you don't have to worry about whether your hours are used up or not.250 hours goes a long way!

30592 2002-01-10 08:12:00 Hi Faye,

I have been with Paradise.Net now for quite a while and find them very good. Have had no problems in the time I have been with them and very few disconnects. I started off with the 20 hour plan, but soon found this not enough and upgraded to 250 hour plan.

30593 2002-01-10 08:17:00 Hi Faye, I'm not too sure about when you're out of town, but toll calls may be the main consideration in ISP choice. Isnt Saturn there in parts of Horowhenua? If so I think you get free calling into Wellington and Paradise could be the way to go. Guest (0)
30594 2002-01-10 11:52:00 I live in rural Nelson and changed from Xtra to Paradise about 18 months ago, the 250 hour plan. Paradise is great, much faster connection speeds, always connects first time and no, we don't have to pay toll calls for Paradise. Family members, home this Christmas, were so impressed that they are going to change to Paradise too. Hope this helps with your decision. Guest (0)
30595 2002-01-10 14:34:00 Paradise is the way to go pal!
I have been with them for 1 yr now and no probs at all.
I reckon they are the best cause:

Excellent helpdesk/phone support
Hardly any busy signals
Free web hosting as well
5 diff e-mail address free
Excellent price plans

well i was on ihug and they sucked...not just price plans but their help desk ppl need to learn how to talk to customers you know.
