| 30565 | 2002-01-10 02:04:00 | I frequently access the Record Control mixer in Win98se. It requires 6 mouse clicks in several windows to do this, which seems inconvenient. Can anyone suggest how to make a shortcut for direct access to the Record Control? With thanks.. |

This will create a 'short-cut' on your Desk Top ... but i would suggest you then move it to your Quick Launch on the Task Bar, as follows: Right-click and *hold* on the short-cut then drag it to desired position, release right-click and then left-click 'Move Here'. You will then be able to access your Sound Recorder by a single click on that Icon. [ There are a number of ways that could have been done, but this seemed the easiest to describe ] Hopefully it is a solution (?) Cheers!!! e_ |

| 30568 | 2002-01-10 06:32:00 | Thankyou e_ for the suggestion, which is quite correct for accessing the Sound recorder..What I wish to do is create a shortcut to access the 'Record Control' which is part of the windows volume control. This volume control confuses many users, in that it contains two 'mixers'. A Play control that sets the inputs & sound levels that are heard from the pc speakers. In this any inputs can be 'muted' which is necessary for the microphone while recording, to avoid acoustic feedback. The other mixer is the 'Record' control. This is used to select the input & sound level for recording, or voice talk programs. In this mixer inputs must be 'selected' depending on what input is required. Dont know why MS made it so involved to get to the Record control. 6 mouse clicks are required, from the Vol icon in the sys tray. I can make a shortcut to open the Play control, but thats not much help. What I am hoping is that someone can suggest how to make a shortcut, for the desktop, to go directly to the record control. Keep watching this post Terry, we could be lucky. With thanks. |

| 30569 | 2002-01-10 08:02:00 | Well, how about that, it's really quite easy, yippee. The volume control is c:\windows\sndvol32.exe. So it was just a question of finding the right switch to activate the recording control. Guess what? c:\windows\sndvol32.exe /record So what you do is make a new shortcut with the above command line in the command line box, and if you want, you can name the shortcut Record Control. Cheers and happy recording. |
