30527 2002-01-09 22:36:00 What was your reason going to WinME I find Win98SE a lot better(my opinion). Guest (0)
30528 2002-01-09 22:53:00 You specs are practically the minimum for ME, so having a scanner try to hog a lot of the resources that ME wants could be causing the problems. Win98 my be the better option in your case... I have had ME running on my wife's 166, and it was VERY slow, whereas 98SE works well on it. Guest (0)
30529 2002-01-09 23:31:00 I have found that twain devices under win ME sometimes need a specific win ME driver, sometimes the 98 drivers just wont cut it.

Do the ctrl+alt+dlt and check that there is a programme running called 'stimon.exe', it is a windows utililty used for still image captures from twain devices. If that is not loading that may be part of your problem, but more likely as Kame and Mike said it is probably just too much for the 166 to handle. I wouldn't go past 98 on your computer.
