| 1288054 | 2012-07-12 08:09:00 | Hey so I have my 22" 1680x1050 16:10 bought 3 years ago and this is when 16:10 dominated the market i think... And I put on another monitor in duel a 18" 1366x768. I went to play a game and to my suprise the 18" 1366x768 16:9 showed more in game view then the 22" 1680x1050 16:10. More horizontally and the same vertically. And looked like it is more zoomed out which looks nice on the 16:9 compared to the 16:10. So now do you think I should set my in game resoultion to 1366x768 down from its native of 1680x1050 or should I just buy a 16:9 ratio monitor as resolution doesnt matter.( would get a 1920x1080 16:9) Im also confused as to why a 16:9 shows more then a 16:10 as i thought 10 is a higher number... So you get more? for every 16 you get 10 instead of for every 16 you get 9. |

So you get more? for every 16 you get 10 instead of for every 16 you get 9. 16:9 is the standard, so the game will probably be made for 16:9. Resolution does matter, but so does aspect ratio. |

The aspect ratio is important thought. If a game is built for 16:9 and the monitor is 16:10, there will be a black band at the top and bottom of the monitor as the space won't be used. |

| 1288060 | 2012-07-12 09:19:00 | and if the 27" is at 2560x1440? Exactly how this is handled depends on the game engine. Many it will just improve visual quality, some will use the additional visual real estate to give you a wider area of vision. |

| 1288061 | 2012-07-12 09:46:00 | FOV =/= Resolution =/= Aspect Ratio If the screen however is being cut off that is generally bad drivers on the video cards behalf or the engine running the game doesn't support certain ratios. Field of view is entirely dependent on the game. If the game increases the FOV when the pixel count on the screen goes up then a 1920x1080 22" screen will show more than 1680x1050 27" screem, but if both screens are the same resolution size is irrelevant as they are displaying the same stuff (number of pixels) over a different area. |
