1287741 2012-07-11 11:29:00 Hi,

I have a small business of just one employee. I want the opinion, which Accounting software will be good and resonable price.
I need the functionality like:
Fill GST return from the software.
Pay to employee from the software.
If possible, I want to do the income and expense entry online. This will allow me to do the entry from anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

Try cashbook lite they have recently stopped operating and are giving it AWAY FREE which is sad as it a very good basic accounts program including GST.

1287744 2012-07-11 12:29:00 ^^ Where did you see that? Can't see any mention on their site.
Unless it's this one (http://www.cashbooklite.com/), which is a completely different package?

1287745 2012-07-11 13:25:00 Another vote for Xero ( Note that the page WainuiTech linked to above is not the Xero website (he linked to an accounting firm), and the prices on that page aren't what you should be looking at. See here (http://www.xero.com/pricing/" target="_blank">www.xero.co.nz) from me - it's expensive ($768 per year for my plan), but well worth it. Note that the page WainuiTech linked to above is not the Xero website (he linked to an accounting firm), and the prices on that page aren't what you should be looking at. See here (http:) for the correct pricing information.

Xero is also a web application (and can therefore be accessed from anywhere as per the OP's requirements).

OOPS -- my bad, to late at night- got the program right though :p Its also the one my accountant suggested if I wanted to go online.

personally I use Cashbook Complete as I first linked.

1287748 2012-07-11 23:04:00 Yes that is the one and it seems OK for small bus. or personal. in reply to Renegade. Arnie (6624)

1287750 2012-07-11 23:42:00 Why not set up a VPN to your backup file server which I'm sure your business has...
then you can just log into the file from anywhere and just have the program on the laptop you take around with you
