1287484 2012-07-10 08:34:00 i discovered a folder of pics that i created a couple of years ago.
unfortunately back then I sorted files by putting a ! in front of names,
While it worked largely for sorting, I don't any more.

Rather then manually renaming them, Is there a program, command etc that is able to remove the ! from the file names?

Thanks
Daniel

1287485 2012-07-10 09:11:00 Try this batch file renaming freeware. It does the the job for me:
download.cnet.com

1287489 2012-07-10 09:32:00 Irfaview fileforum.betanews.com has a batch rename option that can do it, but it's a bit clunky and awkward to use. Just be sure not to install the google toolbar if you install irFanview. dugimodo (138)

1287492 2012-07-10 11:14:00 Can probably do it with Powershell with something like

foreach ($file in (gci c:\some\folder)) {
rename-item ($file.fullname) (($file.name).replace("!",""))
}
inphinity (7274)

Yeah, I went to get something from there yesterday and saw the naff "Cnet Installer". It's bundled with some toolbar so I quit as soon as I saw that crap.
