If anything most Linux users are just the modern equivalent of a dead beat hippy, Only able to handle their lifestyle choice by self-delusion and looking down at those who make better choices. |

| 1264183 | 2012-03-29 01:09:00 | It's not crap, it's just different. As fred_fish said, if you are expecting Windows for $0 you will be disappointed. That is how I first approached it too, and I agree, that idea doesn't work well. But after learning the differences and more about how it works, I quite like it. I especially like the fact that I don't have to pay for it - But in saying that I certainly don't look down my nose at people who don't use it. I also use Windows too, as there are some things that I much prefer Windows for, and things that Linux can't do. Of course with Linux though you can do some neat things that Windows can't, for example, fun things with WiFi. Due to the way the drivers work and are open-source, this is easy to do. In Windows you are often stuck with out of date drivers and\or ones that don't permit interesting modes of operation. Some Linux programs are horrible and some are great. Some Windows programs are also awful. Your generalisation that all programs that run on Linux are worse than crap isn't true as many programs which run on Linux also run on Windows and are very popular such as: LibreOffice, KompoZer, Firefox, Opera, Pidgin, KiCAD, Eagle, Inkscape, Gimp, Arduino, FileZilla, VLC, and Transmission (and likely many others) In fact, those programs do me just fine for most every-day usage. Gaming of course has to be done in Windows but there are some pretty nice games on Linux too, again, with a lot of them also having Windows versions. |

Just like there isn't an video editing suits, photo editing suits, web creations suites, audio editing, office applications or anything else that is comparable to whats available on the Windows platform. However, You can have the "fun things with wifi" |

| 1264190 | 2012-03-29 04:17:00 | Windows represents incredible value for money, It barley contributes to the cost of a PC yet it enables it to do everything that PC's are used for. | Metla (12) | ||
