1287290 2012-07-11 07:15:00 The Tablet S in portrait still retains much of the functionality of landscape mode, more so than the Nexus 7. There is not denying that the Nexus 7 has a different interface, and is built for a different market.

Not really. "Updated" is the word, and eventually your Tablet S will follow suit too when it gets Jellybean.

1287291 2012-07-11 07:16:00 That's what I like about what 2degreees have, able to share a data plan over various devices. Does using a device as a hotspot have much effect on battery life?

Yeah that's kinda cool, but work pays for my Cellphone so I don't get that option. Good and bad I s'pose :p

Nah not much of an effect, WiFi is usually turned on anyways so yeah.

1287292 2012-07-11 10:18:00 If the Tablet S gets Jelly Bean, which by all accounts is unlikely. When you buy a non-Nexus device you are often paying for the software that comes on it. Drenwick (13216)

I usually find software included on non-nexus phones/tabs useless and slow the device down. Skins on Samsung tabs..Make the tablet so slow and laggy.
My Asus only has a few Asus widgets and a cloud storage app..etc. No real slow downs with that sort of stuff.

Either way, your point about "Phone UI" is moot, it's simply landscape vs portrait and I'm surprised you didn't test it more when using your workmates / friends one.

I am loving the concept of the shared data plan from 2D and can only hope the other telcos pick it up, but 2D's mobile broadband coverage lets it down so very badly...

1287296 2012-07-12 02:53:00 Yeah I've gone to 2degrees recently (Works paying my bill now) and it blows so badly, having come from XT.

Interestingly enough, they've had this in the USA for a while now and people aren't bothering so much with it *because* of the fact more and more people are using the likes of a WiFi hotspot on their phone, or an actual WiFi hotspot device.
