1287280 2012-07-10 10:26:00 Why is it that the nexus 7 is pretty much a phone OS on a tablet? For example having the notification menu pull down at the top instead of having it at the bottom like my transformer. (The black bar across the bottom of the screen.)

Or is it a Jellybean thing.. So have google ditched the status bar along the bottom on tabs?

1287281 2012-07-10 10:36:00 i like the look of the Nexus 7, i'd get one GameJunkie (72)
1287282 2012-07-10 12:07:00 By ICS Tablet homescreen I mean that the features that take advantage of the tablet real estate are gone, instead replaced with something akin to ICS on a phone.

1287283 2012-07-10 22:18:00 ^^ Landscape vs Portrait. Same deal if you take the Tablet S and rotate it 90 degrees.

Grab any Android tablet, even back to some of the cheap chinese kamakuza brand ones running 2.1-eclair and you'll see they're exactly the same.

I'm surprised you never rotated your friends Tablet S by 90 degrees, you can't have played with it terribly long? They felt better in portrait mode to me...

1287284 2012-07-11 04:02:00 Nexus = no 3G or 4G? That's the only reason I'm looking to trade up from my HP Touchpad. FAB (6923)

You really think you'll use it? I have never yet used 3g on my zte 9, never needed it when I have a phone.

Totally. lost track of how many times I've been on the bus and wanted to remote into server, but couldn't on wifi...how wants to muck about on the bus trying to tether to my phone.

1287287 2012-07-11 05:11:00 Nope, no 3G or 4G for the Nexus 7. The idea being you use your existing Cellphone, Android or iOS definitely do it, and share *that* 3G connection via a WiFi-Hotspot to your tablet. Saves on having two data bills / charges etc.

The WiFi hotspot feature is brilliant, used it HEAPS myself with my Transformer TF101, Laptop, wifes Cellphone when she doesn't wanna turn on her 3G data.... etc etc

Does using a device as a hotspot have much effect on battery life?

1287289 2012-07-11 06:20:00 The Tablet S in portrait still retains much of the functionality of landscape mode, more so than the Nexus 7. There is not denying that the Nexus 7 has a different interface, and is built for a different market. Drenwick (13216)
