Does your paper map book tell you your location and navigate you to your destination?

Can you put it on the windscreen/dash without obstructing your view so you need only glance at it briefly while driving to see where you are? ;)

1264635 2012-03-13 21:32:00 Back in my day the customer had to be single, good looking and available to get that kind of service

That could have described me many years ago ... before I met SWMBO'd ...

You need to upgrade a GPS too, and pay for it, no real difference there.

A book might not tell you where you are by itself but if you paid attention to what you were doing you'd know where you were. Also most maps have an index of road names you can look up to find where on the map the road you are on is. Not exactly difficult.

1264637 2012-03-13 23:10:00 Mine has also had some issues. Mine has a hinge, in fact lots of hinges where it gets folded up and unfolded.

Some sellotape does the trick, and my map is fine. Can also write addresses and phone numbers on it with just a plain ordinary pen. No need for a touch screen, stylus or input interface.

Anyway, back to the OP, yes very impressive service, although I think it is limited to 1) confirming the fault exists, 2) ordering a replacement, 3) adding the faulty (but repairable) unit to Aucklands discarded waste.
It's not repair, it's just confirming a fault and doing the paper shuffle.

Do have to wonder how many get quietly repaired and passed along to family and friends however.

Oops meant to put SWMBO when holding said map bookMy Dad had a map reader in my mother. She wasn't the best as she often confused right with left. Ended up with lots of "Go left.....NO THE OTHER LEFT!!!". pine-o-cleen (2955)
