1288314 2012-07-13 23:51:00 What is the difference between a single +12V rail PSU, and a PSU with more than one +12V rail?

I would assume the multi rail +12V PSU would be better? But I'm not sure

Also, any advantages or disadvantages between the 2?

1288316 2012-07-14 05:05:00 A large single rail is actually the best in my opinion, that way you don't have to worry about what's plugged in where but just whether the PSU has enough wattage.

You could think of multiple rails as separate 12V supplies sharing the load, but the article linw linked explains it better. In practice it's completely unimportant.

1288318 2012-07-14 08:17:00 dugimodo a single 12v is probably better but are there any in high wattages? Slankydudl (16687)
1288319 2012-07-14 14:15:00 Yeah there are some, I've seen 50A on a single 12V rail before. Generally it's cheaper to go multi rail though so it's not as common. dugimodo (138)

1288322 2012-07-14 21:15:00 Well its expensive for such a very low wattage and i get the feeling it is not designed for use in computers. Slankydudl (16687)
