1264581 2012-03-12 23:39:00 Been thinking about this for some time, but been put off as I'm not 100% sure of the gear that would be needed and how to set it up.

The idea would be to run some LEDs or something, totally separate from the factory headlights, so that when the key is in the 'on' position, the DRLs come on, but when the headlights are turned on, the DRLs turn off automatically.

I guess you'd wire from somewhere that gets supplied 12v when the key gets turned on, through a relay? then to the DRLs. The relay part is what I'm not sure about, or if a relay is even capable of doing this. I guess you'd run a wire from a park light or similar, to the relay? so that when the relay is supplied with 12v from the headlights, it breaks the loop and stops supplying power to the DRLs.

Can a relay do that? I'm aware that normally they do the opposite, perhaps a specialized DRL module of some sort is required?

Thanks. :)
