| 1264512 | 2012-03-12 05:03:00 | I've posted it here coz I thought it was more Entertainment than an actual Technical question... Been looking for books etc - i keep finding the one to do with the Global Treasure hunt - but it doesnt sound adjustable so it doesnt seem to suit what I'm after.. Does anyone know of any games / books etc to use for school kids to find facts on google earth - kinda like orienteering.... Theres the Great Google Global Treasure Hunt which has the right Idea - but want to be able to do it with kids at school without having the competition factor in it (unless we make an internal in class competition) - and i thought there would be books or something around that could assist in that, as the prep in making sheets of clues would be forever.. http://www.jointhetreasurehunt.com/ is the Global treasure hunt Would be awesome if someone has better luck than me.... |

Search Google Code (www.google.co.nz 0l0ll2l0&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=e8074a5949fbbcb5&biw=1024&bih=472) and contributors earth projects. (code.google.com) But then you may need to host your application, e.g. at a free host like google sites/blogger. Perhaps a simpler way is to create a earth/data combo in Google's Fusion Tables. (www.google.com) Examples here. (earth.google.com) There is also an API for that as well. Also search for edu sites (www.google.co.nz l6-1.2.3.1l8l0&gs_l=hp.3...1881l10393l0l11266l24l14l0l0l0l1l3063l 11576l6-1j2j3j1l8l0&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=e8074a5949fbbcb5&biw=1024&bih=472)- pulls up uni's, tech's, etc - which may have projects. Also Youtube edu channel. (www.google.co.nz 5-1.0.1.0.1l10l0&gs_l=hp.3..0l4.60527l64552l5l69311l11l4l7l0l2l0l28 47l4568l5-1j0j1j0j1l10l0&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=e8074a5949fbbcb5&biw=1024&bih=472) |

| 1264514 | 2012-03-12 20:48:00 | Use this search (www.google.co.nz f&hl=en&prmd=imvns&psj=1&ei=gFteT473Eu6diAersOSjDQ&start=20&sa=N&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=1860ce8e62ca1a35&biw=1024&bih=472) to find books involving google earth. Harvey have plenty listings (isites.harvard.edu) (pdf). Or contanct NZ Lands and Surveys, (www.linz.govt.nz/) they do google earth spatial data projects. (http:) Seems they are using feeds/data from Google Code. Maybe also contact education counts (http://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/) (part of ministry of education) may have student research publications. |
