| 31016 | 2002-01-13 05:26:00 | Hi, i see there are alot of listings regarding computers not rebooting but havent seen anything regarding my problem. my computer works fine, usually apart from the usual freezes etc, but when i try to reboot it just goes to the first screen and wont go any further, my keyboard is fine because i can still use it to go into bios and check everythings ok, and the only way it will boot up is if i turn it off then on again then it boots up fine, whew. anyway can anyone help me figure out what this problem is? oh i am running a pentuim 133 with 32mb ram and win95 with an 8gig hdd thanks in advance Lisa lisa_marie40@hotmail.com |

If it's the BIOS screen, that could mean that the battery which maintains its remembered settings is dead. If it says that you have no disks, you won't be able to boot (which could get fixed by your entering the BIOS setup). That will be the definite diagnosis if, when you can boot, the time and date are wrong. If that is wrong, post again, with a bit more information --especially any error messages appearing in screen. |

| 31018 | 2002-01-14 04:41:00 | hi, thanks for your reply, i just figured it out and fixed it (yay me ) lol, was my removable syquest drive, the disk for it wasnt in there so when it went to check all hard drives /floppy drives that had been loaded into bios the 230mb one from the syquest drive wasnt in the drive, so it gave me a hard disk falure, but would still boot up to windows cause thats on the other drive. thanks heaps anyway Lisa |
