30986 2002-01-13 01:31:00 i am trying to set up a network so that i can access my work files from home. the network at work is using a Nokia M1122 router. using win xp or an apache server i can set up a server on my work computer that is accessible from the other computers on the intranet(internal network), but then comes the problem of accessing it over the web. because the computer does not have a internal modem like a 56k the computer does not have an outside ip address, so when i try to connect from home i am only connecting to the router not the computer! therefore i need some way to connect to a computer through the m1122 router. it works on a 56k modem, i just connect to the ip address and everything is sweet, but on jetstream through the router it will not work(obviously) and am tryin to find away around this. all help is much appreciated Guest (0)
30987 2002-01-13 02:56:00 Danger, Will Robinson!

Are you the boss at work? Or System Administrator? If not, DO NOT TRY THIS. That is a shout.

If you get access for yourself at home, there are millions of other people who might be able to get in to your work files. With the result that there might soon not be any work files. Or even any work.

Sorry if I sound rude and offputting, but if you don't know how to do this at all you don't know how to do it safely.
