| 30940 | 2002-01-12 08:08:00 | Hi all. //catchup.cnet.com told me my VIA 4 in 1 needed upgrading to the latest version. I downloaded but when I go to instal, it goes all the way through the process, and on the last screen it freezes. Nothing works at all. I have to turn off and on. The freezing screen is the one where the progress bar is. It goes straight to 100% and locks. Screen goes black with little green lines across the top. When you start installing, it selects which drivers need updating, so theres nothing for me to select. I've tried turbo mode and standard mode. Both get the same results. I use Ctrl/Alt/Delete to turn everything off first. (except explorer and systray) Should there be something else I should be turning off? or is this a common problem with the new VIA 4 in 1 update. | 30941 | 2002-01-12 08:38:00 | I use via 4 in1 on my arche with me i read about 4in1 drivers on a newsgroup somewhere,i am working from memory here and i apoligise if i am wrong. 1,download the drivers into a folder 2. from control panel delete/ uninstall your driver , reinstall from folder by clicking on setup.exe I had version 27 on and my arche played up , i installed ver 33 not a problem, i tried to install ver 35 and i locked up and 100% so i left it alone, ver 33 cured my problems maybe use a version back arche support told me some versions are not so reliable, maybe tuen off all programs by start, run , type msconfig and untick all you programmes axcept to basic ones and reboot, install and rebot , also go to Via page at www.vaiarena.com/?pageID=2 for instructions |

| 30942 | 2002-01-12 09:33:00 | Thanks for that Simon. Unfortunately didnt work. Tried both. Turned off everything in msconfig, and uninstalled a Via Driver setup in add/remove. Also read the info pages but nothing mentioned about it. I've currently got V4.34 and trying to update to V4.73v I'll see if anyone has any ideas. Cheers. |
