30881 2002-01-12 04:46:00 I have configured linux to use my modem and I can dial up using the cho command and minicom. When I try to dial my ISP, it dials, talks and then just sits there untill it times out. I am running Redhat linux 5.0 Guest (0)
30882 2002-01-12 09:06:00 Suggest you update your distribution - RedHat 7.0 or later allows setup to your ISP via a simple GUI wizard - in my experience works first time consistently! Guest (0)
30883 2002-01-12 09:06:00 Isn't Minicom just a terminal? This will allow you to handshake with your ISP, but not establish a PPP connection.

What window manager are you using? You should be able to use gnome-ppp or KPPP to set up your Internet connection.

30884 2002-01-13 00:45:00 I can't help with anything specific, but have a look thru the logs in /var/log they should be able to tell you what isn't working.

IIRC there is a seperate PPP log, but the system log my also be of help.

30885 2002-01-13 03:47:00 Check the manual page for pppd, and read the PPP-HOWTO (in /usr/doc/HOWTO), and PPP-FAQ (in /usr/doc/FAQ/). Guest (0)
