| 31054 | 2002-01-13 08:19:00 | I have just set up a new computer (Athlon XP 1600 CPU on a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE MB, Seagate 7200 40Gb HDD, 512Mb DDR RAM, nVidia video card, Win XP Pro OS)and attempted to set up an external HP 8300 CD burner on it but made the mistake of installing DirectCD on the computer and WinXP did not like it and sent me a message that parts of DirectCD had been disabled, etc. I removed Direct CD using add/remove programmes but Win XP STILL doesn't like DirectCD which has left three drivers in the windows/system32/drivers folder. I tried removing one of these and the DVD drive and the HP burner disappeared. This is long winded but what can I do about them to get Win XP to admit that they are no longer there and are not going to stuff up the system? Are they now necessary at all? The files are identified as CDRAL, CDR4_2K and UDFReadr. | Guest (0) | ||

You will have to download 2 patches from the Roxio site and install them straight after installation of CD Creator before rebooting. If it was Version 5 you installed, reinstall it without Take two (causes more problems than it is worth) apply the patches. Read the instructions for both patches as it is important they are applied properly. If it was Version 4 you installed I don't know if that has been made compatible or not. Check out Roxios site. If problems are still occuring do a system restore. |
