| 31113 | 2002-01-13 22:37:00 | Can anyone help me out here? I have an IBM 760XD Thinkpad, 166Mhz, 64Mb Ram, running WinMe and Outlook Express 6. I recently installed Norton Antivirus2001 and 2 things have occured. I can not access the Live Update at all even though my connection is fine. Secondly, when opening outlook express 6, the following error message appears: 'Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possble causes for this include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop3.paradise.net.nz',Server: 'pop3.norton.antivirus', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F' Paradise is my ISP. When this appeared, the Internet connection icon in the lower right-hand corner was still there..in fact, the Internet works fine. The computer is not networked and it gets regular use. I sent myself an email as a test, but it has not come through. This is the 2nd time the error message has come up. I previously deleted the norton antivirus program with add/remove and reinstalled it...same problem though. Does anyone know what is happening here and how to stop it? Thanks. |

| 31114 | 2002-01-14 04:36:00 | Hi there... Dont worry there is no big problem realy. The same problem happen to me last month, and the only thing I did is restore my internet explorer to default. You can do that by folowing these simple steps and every thing will be back as normal like what happened to my computer. Turn on your computer and after you did restart it and as soon as you see any text appears hold the CTRL key down and choose choice number 3, and when you go in safe mode go to Control Panel-Add/Remove programs, point to- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet tools- and click on Add/Remove and then choose:Restore the previous Windows configuration.and then complete the uninstall progress. And you Done! I have Windows ME too you know and Norton Antivirus 2001 program. I had the same problem too and all I had to do is Call the Paradise Technical call line and they told me what to and my computer back as normal. Note that I am not recomending IE6. After I installed it this problem has happen to my PC. You should keep IE5 because it has no such error. |
