| 31248 | 2002-01-14 22:50:00 | Does anyone know how to remove items from the menu that appears when you right click a folder or file in Windows Explorer? Various installed programs have donated 'thier bit' to the menu and now it is all-a-clutter. It is a bit dangerous... it is too easy to inadvertantly click the wrong item. I am running Win ME but I should imagine the fix will be much the same as for Win 98 etc. Thanks. |

| 31249 | 2002-01-15 00:54:00 | Hi Andrew, If you are familiar with the registry then this is really easy. To remove a right click menu item, run regedit (Start / Run / type regedit). The following 4 keys are where the Righ-Click menu options are stored for folders, directories, and drives. To remove a right-click context menu item, delete any of the sub-keys (after making a backup first) that are below these keys. I suspected the answer must lie in the registry, but I know enough about it to know how BLOOOOODY BIG it is, and if one item is found there is no guarrantee there aren't one, two, three, or more other pertinent entries.
