31379	2002-01-16 01:47:00	Hi All, I just had a most interesting conversation with a telecom technician and I'm wondering if any others can help me verify it too. While he was here doing a line replacement we started talking about puters and I made the comment (half joking) that it seems xtra was slowing down their connections over the past few months in a effort to persuade people to change to jet stream/start. Surprisingly he quietly admitted that he had heard(through his work) that this was true!!! He also mentioned that the slowdown was worst just around the times they played their ads on TV....has anyone else with an xtra connection noticed the same thing???? I'm curious.	Guest (0)
31380	2002-01-16 03:32:00	I haven't heard about this one, but it wouldn't surprise me. The problem with net speeds is that is so easy for the likes of Telecom to blame a slow down on everything else but themselves. I'm currently using Jetstream, a great product but bloody expensive for what you get. The problem is we lack real competition in the market and I can't see that changing in the near future.	Guest (0)
31381	2002-01-16 04:08:00	What really sux about this if it is true is that xtra can't even supply jetstream to all of its customers! You have to be one of the 'Elite' who live within 5 km of a digital exchange to get it. I live close to the centre of Hamilton and have been told it is not available in my area. Actually, I doubt the truth of this rumour. I think the Telecom system just gets plain overloaded through lack of investment in resource, but you never know. They are still spewing over the 'kiwi share' clause that stops them charging mega-bucks for internet.	Guest (0)
