31277 2002-01-15 04:48:00 I have 2 related 'How do you do it ?' queries'
[a] How do you transfer any of the fonts in the Windows/Fonts folder to become generally available for use in word processing? There are clearly a lot more fonts in this Windows folder than are available in the Word -Format-Fonts dialogue box.
[b]I don't seem to be able to find even in the Wondow/Fonts folder any of the handwriting script fonts like 'Amaze', 'Lucida Calligraphy', 'Gaze', 'Nuptial' or the ' or 'Diploma' etc that I had immediate access to when I was using Windows 95. Can I get such fonts as these from anywhere and if so, how do I get them into my Word drop down Fonts dialogue box?
I am using Word 97 and Works 4.5 along with Windows 98 SE

Go to 'Help' on your start menu and enter Font in the search field then click display. That will bring up a selection from which you can select 'add new font'. This will tell you how to install the fonts in your Windows/fonts directory.

To obtain different fonts, you can buy font compilations on CD (I have one called Font Explosion which has a mind boggling range) and I believe that there are some web sites around that you can download from too.

31279 2002-01-15 11:04:00 Hi Bryan,

It's possible that some of the font files are corrupted in the Windows\fonts folder. Windows automatically installs all fonts in this folder when you start your PC. They then should all be available for use in any Windows program. Have you run Scandisk lately? That might fix something. Otherwise you may have to restore the fonts from your Windows or Office disk to get them working.

Cheers,
Rod.
