31488 2002-01-16 20:28:00 Firstly thanks for all the responses so far regarding ICS. It still is not happening but I'm sure Wingate is one of the solutions. This post is about a 98se comp. I installed a Lan card and now the modem dials, verifies name and pasword, registers the computer on the network, puts the little icons in the system tray, but does nothing else. No email, no browsing. Once again I have checked protocols, Get IP address Automatically, unchecked proxy...... Uninstalled Lan Card, Installed another modem, switched PCI slot, reinstalled Windows Internet and Networking Components. Just bizarre. I suspect some obscure file in Windows. Unless someone comes up with a canny solution my next trick will be to reload windows. TIA Chris Guest (0)
31489 2002-01-16 22:16:00 Check the protocols out on your DialUp.

If Deterministic Network Enhancer exists then uncheck it, Don't remove it as it'll be used again when you are sharing your connection.

The only protocol you need to have going for dialup are TCP/IP and Client for MS Networks.

31490 2002-01-17 01:05:00 check out www.practicallynetworked.com and http://www.helmig.com

wingate woks ok just.....it kept crashing my comp so i went back to ics. win2k ics should work preety sweet however w2k and win98 don't always see eye to eye. i would diable the dhcp and stick to static ip for the lan cards.

small tip..i don't know why but putting the dns ip of your isp into the dns part of the networking helps wih some progs.
