31621 2002-01-17 10:06:00 Hi, after installing another 256MB of ram for a long time, I've not noticed much change. My current amount is 384MB, but when using PC benchmarking tools etc. sometimes I see that I only have __% of physical memory that can be used. My motherboards supports up to 768MB and when I boot it says 384 too! But there is times when I just feel that I really need a accurate number to find out if there is problem to the ram or what. So does anyone know of a free prgram that will tell me exactly how much ram I have, how much I CAN use and at times, how much I used or have left. Besides the odd clock one (program) any program9s) will be most appreciated.

Many thanks once again. ;-)

Download SuperMonitor. It will not only track your RAM usage, it also tracks system resources. I can't remember where I downloaded it from as it was a year or so ago but a quick search should find it.

If you have no luck, post again as I might be able to find the original zip file.

Cheers

31623 2002-01-17 10:48:00 System monitor can tell you, just goto Add - Memory Manager:Unused Physical Memory.

You may also want to add Memory Manager:Disk Cache Size.

But I usually use TaskInfo2000.

The amount of memory you can actually use will depend. Windows can shrink its disk cache and move programs that are not being used onto your swapfile if it has to.

31624 2002-01-17 20:24:00 But... when I do go into Disk Manager, it goes from 0 to 244.1, which mean the maximum unused can only be 244.1MB. Why's that? Where's the another odd 133.9 MB? Can I really trust System Monitor? What is a swap file, whats the extension on it e.g *.exe? Can I safely delete this to free up space?

Many thanks guys, and I'll search for the SuperMonitor now! ;-) Cheers,

31625 2002-01-18 05:22:00 Hi s y

Take a look at the Cacheman 5.01 program (free). It shows all sorts of useful stuff about your computers performance including how much free memory you have, disk cache etc.
