31727 2002-01-18 02:54:00 Problem - family here don't have computers or dvd players so I cannot create a CD based family album though many do have both the NTSC Video Players and TV.
I have 1000's of digital camera shots of my daughter that I want to put onto video tape for the family here.
Am using WinME.

Any idea's?

You need a video card with tv-out. They are pretty common and retail at my local computer parts supplier (who is usually lower priced than Dick Smiths) for $687 - $1153 plus GST.

I don't know of another way around the problem except playing your DVD on your DVD player hooked to your vcr which would be recording.

31729 2002-01-18 03:56:00 Hi Gordon,

I have a Dualhead video card (32meg Matrox Millenium) and I used to have a TV and video recorder set up on it to do exactly as you want. I even made up presentations in powerpoint and transfered them onto tape. Then the kids wanted their TV and Video back and I was about to go out and buy another setup when I had an idea. I've had a Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera for a while which uses a compactflash card and I used to use the 'hook up to TV feature' it has got and play back my photos in slideshow mode and it worked well but of course I couldn't edit or use transitions or add text etc. So I had the idea of making my slideshows on the computer and saving it back onto my memory card, then hooking up to the TV again and recording it. It works brilliantly and the quality is better than I was getting the original computer/TV setup. I bought another 128mb card as they are pretty cheap now. It may be an option you can try. There is heaps of free presentation software on the net.

If you really want a dualhead card for your computer there is a Matrox 16meg dualhead on trade me at the moment. Or if you are after another memory card for your camera there are always heaps of them on trade me as well.

Hope this helps and good luck.

31730 2002-01-18 04:37:00 Matrox G450 is pretty good.

There are cheaper, less capable ones, saw one in Dick Smiths a while back that was about $120 or so. Didn't do much but output.

robo.

31731 2002-01-18 05:25:00 A new graphics card sounds heaps expensive. Dicky Smith also does a vhs/s-video adaptor which plugs into the vga port. costs about $270. Haven't tried it but it certainly sounds a bit cheaper if the budget's tight (and whose isn't these days?). If you get anything, please post a report, I'm interested in this myself. Guest (0)
31732 2002-01-18 06:52:00 Well, that is something to mull over. Main thing is in one form or another I can transfer the photo's to video, just a matter of finding the best way to suit my needs.
I will have a look at the various options when return to NZ and see where it goes.
Thanks everyone.
Cheers
