32119 2002-01-21 04:33:00 I have a new ASUS 16x DVD and the movies are playing rather choppy.

I have a trident cyberblade (8MB) features said accelerated for DVD.

My machine AMD K6/2 500mhz
256MB RAM
Win98SE

Also it's identifying in the bios as DMA 33. The drive supports up to dma66 and ata100. My bios supports up to dma66.

32121 2002-01-21 06:36:00 running at DMA33 shouldn't be a problem... I've got 2 DVDs on 2 computers both running at 33 and they both work fine.

Have you got DMA checked in the DVD properties (under system properties - right-click My Computer > Properties to bring it up)?

Also what DVD software are you using? I *had* problems when I first got one of my DVD drives and found it was the DVD software (PowerDVD), so (eventually after much complaining, as I had no idea what the problem was) I switched to WinDVD and have had no problems since.

32122 2002-01-21 22:50:00 I hadn't thought of ticking dma. I'll try that.
ASUS comes with winDVD with the ASUS logo all over it.
