32010 2002-01-20 06:14:00 I have an HP pavillion with just a Cd drive but no spare outside slots. I wish to copy photos and music that I have downloaded. Do I take out the cd drive and replace it with an internal writer or do I but an external writer (I have a usb port on the front of my cpu) I am worried about the speed of the external and I don't want to spend heaps Thanks Guest (0)
32011 2002-01-23 00:02:00 Hey
I had the same problem as you did, so i went out and got myself a HP 8200 series External CD Writer ($500 i left the shop)

although it only writes at a speed of 8 rewrites at 4, and reads at 32 it does what i want it to do

If you are confident enough in putting an Internal one in yourself, or have someone to do it for you, go and get an internal one, they work faster (or so they say)

However my external one i can take to my friends houses, and let them use it

Depending on what you want, and how much your willing to pay, depends on what you get
